Born and raised in Kent and Sussex, studied Art and Design at Central Saint Martins - UA London in 2009, and then Fine Art: Painting at the University of Brighton until 2013, James Cowland is now a fledging professional Artist living and working in Hove, UK. James uses an introspective process and an extremely limited palette to pursue psychological themes inquiring of his own psychology. He maintains a long-standing line of work about human conflict. James has work belonging to a growing number of private collections and draws influence from artists such as Jake and Dinos Chapman, Phil Hale, Paul Nash, Walter Sickert, and Ivor Hele.
