Black Square

This series is an exercise in simplicity and minimalism symbolic of life-before-afterlife.
Just as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen are in essential materials in living things, the materials here are basic and essential; Cotton duck canvas, the carbon of charcoal. Like any living thing, each piece is born and lives its short lifespan in the act of being created before taking on its afterlife.
